One type of stick I usually have on hand are Dutch Masters Cigars. Since I usually smoke (and write about) more high-end cigars, it's fair to wonder why that is.
It's simple. Dutch Masters take me back to a time in my like that I like to remember. Specifically, my days in college, which is when I started to smoke cigars more frequently. In college, we didn't have a tobacco shop nearby, and I'm old enough that there was no "Internet" with "online cigar stores" like Thompson Cigar to order from. Most of the time, when we wanted to smoke, we'd head on down to the local drugstore and pick up a pack of what they had. More often than not, they were Dutch Masters.
I can't claim that these would win a taste test among my favorite cigars now. Still, I keep them nearby because they are easy to find and pleasant to smoke. They also give me a sense of nostalgia that is much appreciated on nights when work demands leave me longing for the days when scraping together six bucks for a pizza was my biggest source of stress.
