TheRhino from Tucson, AZ reviewed the PHILLIES STRAWBERRY NATURAL CORONA

The Phillie Strawberry Blunts are one of my favorite cheapie smokes, but are getting pretty pricey if you pay-at-the-pump. Finding that Thompson had them in Boxes online for about 1/2 the price was a huge bonus. I bought a box for me - enjoyed them - and then turned around and bought a box for my uncle - perfect gift!

I go to this web site for the convience and the process instead of ordering through a catalog, I am not a regular cigar smoker mostly when I am playing golf and drinking w/ my friends in a poker game . But, also my father-in-law is a regular cigar smoker and since he does not know how to use the internet I help him order and get things faster than he does ordering either over the phone or by a catalog.

It's been a long time since you've seen this good a cigar at such an affordable price. It's real value for your money. Of course, part of the reason we're able to bring this good a cigar to you at less than 75 cents apiece is because you buy them in bundles. When there's no fancy cedar box to pay for and no high advertising costs associated with the product, the cost of the cigar is more affordable. And these are quality cigars, ones worthy of your humidor, ones you can make your everyday smoke. These are cigars from facilities we choose with care, and because we buy them in bulk, you save. Limit 2 bundles per customer.

Where do you miss being able to smoke?

Wednesday, February 2, 2011 by Trevor Billingsley
It's no secret that more and more places are prohibiting smoking, or allowing it only in small areas that make it much less fun (I'll pass on the airport smoking lounge, thanks). For the most part, I've been OK with it, though I do miss the after-dinner cigars in restaurants.

Here's what I miss the most, though: Smoking cigars baseball games.

I love going to baseball games a lot more than I enjoy watching the games on TV. It's one of those sports that you need to see the whole field to appreciate, and it's also a great game to see with friends or take children to. The fathers-and-sons baseball tradition is a cliche at this point, but it's still got a lot of truth to it. One of my favorite experiences is taking in a game with my son (even if I have a sneaking suspicion that he's only there for the popcorn).

But in none of the numerous local stadiums located in the Washington D.C. area can I smoke a cigar, except in an out of the way smoking area. And I don't get that. I've seen the newsreels and the old black-and-white photos ... cigars have been smoked at baseball games for decades. All of our stadiums are outside. There are plenty of empty seats, because both the Orioles and the Nationals stink and don't draw a lot of fans for the midweek games. What is the problem if I light up? I should at least be able to enjoy Phillies cigars if the Philadelphia Phillies are in town, right?

Am I right? What gets you riled up?

Memories of Phillies

Wednesday, December 15, 2010 by Trevor Billingsley
My grandfathePhilliesr was a proud Philadelphian from the day he was born until the day he died, and as long as I knew him the farthest he would ever travel from home was his every-other-month trip to Washington D.C. to see his grandchildren, my brother and I.

Every time he came here, he'd bring bags of groceries. Mostly because he though the prices in D.C. were higher, and he wanted to save us money. But in some cases, he didn't think we could even buy those groceries here. For example, he'd bring several bricks of Philadelphia cream cheese, because he naturally assumed that it could only be bought in Philly, not guessing that it was a product sold nationwide.

He'd also bring a pack of Phillies Cigars for my dad. My grandfather smoked cigars all the time, but my father was at the time an occasional smoker and would toss them in a drawer in the kitchen after a courtesy smoke when my grandparents arrived. Anyway, whenever I see Phillies, I still think of that and smile. And I'll smoke one every now and then, and think of those times.

Bring Back the Cigar Cards!

Friday, November 12, 2010 by Trevor Billingsley
Nobody asked me, but I have some advice for cigar companies looking for a new marketing strategy. Take an old school approach, call the folks at Major League Baseball, and go back to the days of 100 years ago when tobacco companies produced baseball cards, like the T-206 Honus Wagner that is still the most valuable baseball card in the world.

OK, so I have a vested interest in this. I love cigars, and I love baseball. I still have my old baseball cards in my bedroom closet. And I'm a history buff who would love the retro look and feel of this strategy.Diamond Crown Maximus

But be honest. Wouldn't you be more likely to buy a pack of Phillies Cigars if it came with a cool-looking baseball card with a picture of Ryan Howard or another actual Philadelphia Phillie? Or some Avo Signature Cigars if you might also get a card with the signature of an All-Star? And, of course, a box of Diamond Crown Maximus cigars could feature stars of the baseball diamond.

I know that it will never happen. Times have changed, and baseball has distanced itself from its association with tobacco (though there still are a lot of beer ads on the broadcasts, so alcohol must be OK). But it doesn't mean I can't dream.

Cincinnati Reds caught in the act

Friday, October 8, 2010 by Trevor Billingsley
It’s a depressing sign of where we are as a society that a celebrating baseball team can draw fire for doing something that countless generations of athletes in their sport have taken for granted.

The Cincinnati Reds were not expected to do much when the season began, but surprised the favorite St. Louis Cardinals to win the National League’s Central Division title and make the playoffs. Not surprisingly, the players celebrated with quality cigars – and the owner even was seen passing them out.

That doesn’t seem like a big deal. But because the celebration moved to the clubhouse and got wide media coverage, some people complained that the players were violating the local laws about smoking indoors. Reportedly, at least five people complained to the state’s smoking ban complaint hotline, and Reds owner Bob Castellini can expect to get a letter from the government soon. But considering the amount of joy the team has brought the city, and that a Cincinnati Health Department spokesman called further action highly unlikely, this probably won’t be a big deal going forward.

Of course, the farther the Reds go in the playoffs, the more celebratory cigars will be smoked by both players and fans (though they were no-hit by the Phillies and Roy Halladay in their first postseason game, which isn't a great sign). But this incident teaches a valuable lesson. When enjoying a victory cigar, try not to do so where anti-smoking advocates can see you on TV and anonymously phone in a complaint.

Cheap Phillies Cigars

Sunday, August 29, 2010 by Morgan C
Phillies Cigars are a sweet treat when you're craving a flavored cigar. Coming in a variety of shapes, sizes and wrappers, these little blunts pack a big punch at a small price. Produced in Puerto Rico, Phillies cigars feature tobacco filler from the Dominican Republic and Honduras for the perfectly mild-bodied taste.

"The Phillie Strawberry Blunts are one of my favorite cheapie smokes, but are getting pretty pricey if you pay-at-the-pump. Finding that Thompson Cigar had them in Boxes online for about 1/2 the price was a huge bonus. I bought a box for me - enjoyed them - and then turned around and bought a box for my uncle - perfect gift!"

Phillies cigars are advertised for the "value-conscious smoker" and while I believe this to be true, I think that only accounts for half the Phillies smokers out there. The reality is that every cigar brand has a demographic and Phillies is dominated by a younger, hipper group. How many cigar smokers out there start off with a Cohiba or Ashton cigar? Every cigar smoker starts off somewhere and for many that somewhere was a gas station Phillie or Swisher Sweet. Either way, these little cigars pack a lot of flavor at a cheap price, sure to keep
you and your wallet happy.
