Why Use a Cigar Humidor?

If you are one of the new cigar aficionados, you have probably heard mention of humidors being used for storage. You may have also seen some big walk-in humidors at cigar shops. Cigar HumidorsAlthough this may have given you the impression that humidors are just for stores that specialize in quality smokes, nothing could be further from the truth. Fact is, anyone who smokes cigars on a regular basis needs some type of humidor. You don't necessarily need as large a space as ones used by online cigar stores (although that would be nice). You just need something that will keep your precious smokes safe and sound on a long term basis.

Due to their character and status, cigars merit a certain type of storage. Keeping them in something as mundane as a cupboard or dresser drawer doesn't provide them with the space they so rightly deserve. Nevertheless, a classy display case still isn't quite enough for proper storage of cigars. Humidity levels also need to be taken into account and this is what a humidor does. They are engineered to maintain relative humidity at a level that properly ages and preserves cigars (68% to 72% relative humidity). This assures that your cigars taste as they should no matter when you decide to smoke them.
