Bold Cigars for Everyday Use

Tuesday, April 24, 2012 by Pat The Cigar Guy

PINAR DEL RIO VALUE LINE RESERVE TORO MADUROEvery aficionado has their personal favorite brand for smoking on a day to day basis. It's the cigar that they enjoy once or twice a day but don't really smoke it on special occasions. Since they smoke this everyday brand a lot, cost becomes one of the more important issues. If an aficionado can afford to partake in a Partagas or award winning Arturo Fuente cigars on a daily basis, then he or she will probably do just that or go for other high-rated smokes. However, the majority of aficionados aren't so lucky and need to go with a brand that puts a smaller dent in the pocket for everyday use.

A great choice for a bold, flavor-filled smoke that combines quality with a low price is the Pinar del Rio Value Line Reserve Toro Maduro. Big, bold smokes with a maduro wrapper to add to their flavor, these sticks will spice up the life of every aficionado who uses them on a day to day basis. When you buy this solid, good smoke from Thompson Cigars, you can also get 25 of them for just $29.95! It's hard to say how long this discount will last though so you might want to order a few months worth of this popular brand today.

Find these bold, everyday smokes and all of your tobacco needs at Thompson Cigars.

Mike the Dumb Ole Aggie from Spring Texas reviewed the PARTAGAS BLACK LABEL MAXIMO SUNGROWN TORO

Partagas Black is a great line of cigars. Everyone I have smoked has burned straight with white ash.

Bottomline: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Rating:

Pros: Easy To Light, Good Draw, Great Flavor, Undamaged Wrapper, Well Constructed
Best Uses: Everyday
Describe Yourself: Cigar Aficionado

Partagas Black Label cigars have been created to appeal to smokers who are demanding a richer, bolder taste in a big ring-gauge cigar. Partagas Black Label cigars are crafted with the Medio Tiempo wrapper leaves that are sun grown in the Connecticut River Valley. The big, bold taste also derives from the blend of Nicaraguan Ligero and Piloto Cubano Ligero filler leaves that are combined with a Dominican-grown La Vega Especial binder.

Even the boldness of the new black band and black box reflects the distinctive new fuerte taste of the Partagas Black Label cigar. Despite the changes, however, you will still find Partagas a great value as well as a great smoke.

The Most Popular Cigar Brands

Wednesday, November 30, 2011 by Pat The Cigar Guy
Aficionados always enjoy a good smoke and most of us like to try out different brands of cigars. Nevertheless, there are some brands that stand out in terms of quality and popularity. Most of them have been providing aficionados with good, quality smoke for decades and this might be why they maintain such a high degree of popularity. The following ARTURO FUENTE CURLY HEAD DELUXE MADURO LONSDALEare a sampling of some of those classic, popular cigar brands:
  • Macanudo: This premium cigar is so linked with the good life that its name is even known among non-aficionados. Famous for mild smoke with complex flavors, the Macanudo is the number one, high quality cigar in the USA.
  • Arturo Fuente: The expertise that goes into crafting these premium, hand-made cigars has made them one of the most popular brands around.
  • Partagas: Smooth, full of flavor, and a spicy note make Partagas Cigars an excellent smoke for any occasion. Their quality has also given them an excellent reputation.
  • CAO Cigars: The CAO Cigar company have been innovators on the cigar scene since 1968. Bringing this creativity to the world of the aficionado has paid off with popularity.
  • Cohiba: Another major name in the cigar world, the well-developed Cohiba brand is famous for providing some of the best smokes on the planet.

Great Value Good Quality Short Smoke

Pullo from Berkeley reviewed the PUNCH BOLOS EMS CIGARILLO

If you like minatures, this is a great value cigar. The flavor is not as good as same size Partagas or CAO, but not much of a sacrafice. About a 40 minute smoke for less than a buck and half a piece. Go for it.

Bottomline: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Rating:

Pros: Easy To Light, Good Draw, Great Flavor, Undamaged Wrapper, Well Constructed
Best Uses: Everyday

More cheap punches than an amateur boxing match! We've got an Overstock of Punch that we have to clear to make way for new product, so we're cutting you an incredible deal! Choose between the medium-to-full bodied Punch Café Royal in glass tubes, the extra aged Punch Royal Coronation with a US Connecticut wrapper, or the short Punch Bolo in a convenient tin. We're not normally allowed to discount a big name national brand like Punch, but the boys at General Cigar Co. gave us a special, one time exception. Take advantage of this offer now (before they change their minds)!

Great for an every day smoke

G-man from Baton Rouge, La reviewed the EROS CHURCHILL SUMATRA

A great daily smoke. Quite enjoyable especially for the price.

Bottomline: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Pros: Easy To Light, Good Draw, Great Flavor
Cons: Occasional wrapper flaws
Best Uses: Events, Everyday
Describe Yourself: Aspiring Aficionado

If you like Partagas, Montecristo, Davidoff, cigars that sell for seven and eight bucks apiece, you'll love Eros. It has Cuban-seed, Nicaraguan grown Piloto Cubano long filler tobaccos. These filler leaves are carefully selected, double fermented, and aged to their peak of mildness. To this wonderful blend is added a prime Dominican Olor binder which produces a rich subtlety. But by far the most delightful part is Eros' wrapper. It's a beautiful, sweet-smoking Ecuadorian. The product of loving attention from farm to finished cigar, Eros earns its name.

By all rights, a smoke this good ought to cost dearly, but not Eros. Though it possesses a level of quality unheard of in a mass-market cigar, despite its excellence, it's surprisingly affordable. Truly, Eros presents the flavor and quality of a boutique cigar at a mass market price.

Ramon Cifuentes, whose Partagas cigars were the pride of Cuba more than 30 years ago, now uses his expertise to keep watch over the manufacture of these cigars in the Dominican Republic. The result is a cigar about as close as you can get to the smokes made in Cuba B.C. (before Castro). The robustly flavored Partagas is highly ranked on the Cigar Aficionado scale of quality. The cosmopolitan flavor of Partagas smokes can be traced to its Cameroon wrapper leaves grown in West Africa as well as to its top-grade Dominican and Mexican fillers. The fertile San Andres region of Mexico contributes the finishing touch of flavor with its hand-selected binder leaves. A fabulous cigar at a great price. This is an opportunity to take advantage of.

Planning ahead pays off for Partagas

Thursday, January 13, 2011 by Trevor Billingsley
I'm not sure how many saw the trend towards smaller cigars happening (I certainly did not), but the folks behind Partagas cigars did. Now they're reaping the benefits.

Starting in the mid-1990s, Partagas Cigar Master Daniel Nunez set aside smaller and medium sized leaves to go through the aging process. At the time, longer lengths were all the rage, so not many were following Nunez's lead. Because of that, when the cigar trends changed and smaller sticks became more popular, Partagas cigars was in a unique position to dominate because of its store of perfectly aged and fermented wrappers.

Enter the Partagas 160 cigars. They may look tiny, but are as satisfying and well-made as anything bigger made by anyone in the world. The extraordinary Cameroon wrappers encircle premium long-filler tobacco, from the Dominican Piloto Cubano and the Mexican San Andreas leafs. If you're looking for the most impressive ratio of size to flavor, these cigars are very hard to beat.

Partagas 160 cigars come at a price -- between $500 and $600 for a box of 25 -- but here's the reason: these are the best. There isn't another small cigar that can offer these kind of wrappers and filler tobacco, because pretty much everyone is chasing Partagas cigars. It's the little luxury that places the best available materials and craftsmanship in a small enough package to add a small touch of decadence to a day or night that needs it.
