Johnny Blaze from Sacramento, CA reviewed the PADRON AMBASSADOR WITH CAP MADURO LONSDALE

Got a few of these free for signing up for the Cigar Club, and at first glimpse, thought it was a knock-off or cheap imitation cigar, due to the plain band. After visiting the Padron website and seeing that they were in fact real Padrons, I smoked the first one. Before I was done with the first one, I already knew I would be smoking the second one right after the first was done. Amazing great taste, smooth burn, lots of flavor, I really cant say enough good things about these little cigars! Spicy flavor with hints of cocoa and coffee, a real treat for my tongue. I don't know that they equal other more expensive Padrons, but I really wish I had ordered more of these instead of the ones I bought when I signed up for the Club! This will definitely be my next purchase!

Bottomline: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Rating:

Pros: Big flavor, Burn Great, Easy to light, Good taste Cons: None at all

There are rare cigars and then there are super rare cigars. And that is exactly what you get with the Padron Family Reserve 44th Aniversary. This was the very first of the Family Reserve line which was only used for special occasion affairs and never sold at retail. If you’re a collector of fine cigars than this is a must have. Each box is signed by the entire family. We only got a few so buy before they are gone.

Randall from Williamsburg, VA reviewed the PADRON 1964 ANIVERSARIO DIPLOMATICO NATURAL CHURCHILL

I bought the natural wrapper on auction and got a good deal on these. I love Padron and thought this would be near the top of the list. My experience is that they are a well constructed cigar except that the wrapper seems thin and a little delicate. The flavor is mild and certainly is a good cigar, but I have to say that it isn't everything I hoped it would be.

Bottomline: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Pros: Easy To Light, Good Draw
Cons: Wrapper Imperfections

Less than 5% of Padrón’s torcedores are deemed experienced enough to work on the company’s exclusive Anniversary Series, so less than 5% of the company’s already modest output is devoted to these cigars. With so few in production, the Anniversary Series is carefully allotted, and we have laboriously hoarded all we have been offered until we accumulated enough inventory to feature it in our catalog. Obviously, we cannot be sure when we will be able to repeat this offer. Due to the high demand and low production it’s unlikely these cigars can be found easily anywhere else, so we urge you to get them while you can

Mild Cigar or Bold Flavor at the End of a Long Day?

Thursday, May 3, 2012 by Pat The Cigar Guy

PADRON FAMILY RESERVE NO.45 MADURO TOROSome days just seem to drag on longer than others. As you sit at your desk, in traffic, or on a plane, you look at your watch and are amazed that just a few minutes have passed since your last glance at the clock. Even if work, a book, or sudoku keeps you occupied, it seems to take forever for that final hour to arrive when you can leave the office or reach your destination. The one good thing about long days like that is finishing them off with great cigars. Look forward to a fine, premium smoke and the day might not seem as long.

Once the time arrives for sitting back and picking out that much awaited cigar, some aficionados go for mild-mannered cigars while others reach for a trusty, rich-flavored Maduro. Mild smokes like Ashton Cigars make for an easy, silky smooth experience with light-hearted flavors destined to wash away the stress of a long day. Aficionados who prefer a bold, flavor-filled experience to spice up their day and obliterate any and all stress can't go wrong with the award-winning Padron Family Reserve Number 5 Toro.

Save on these and other premium cigars at Thompson Cigars today.

Just One of Ways to Spend Less for Premium Cigars

Monday, April 23, 2012 by Pat The Cigar Guy

PADRON NO. 88 SAMPLER MADURORocky Patel, Padron, Ashton, and the list of 90 plus rated cigars goes on. If great smokes like these brands have any sort of problem, it's with their high prices. If you have the funds to spend on boxes of these smokes, that's really no problem at all. If, however, you live on a fixed income or are say a veteran still searching for a job after your tenure in the armed forces, high prices for great smokes present a significant barrier to experiencing them.

Nevertheless, Thompson Cigars always seems to find a way for aficionados to enjoy top cigar brands without having to break the bank. Checking out the discounts and deals offered at the Thompson website is the first important step to take but the one, easiest way to try top of the line smokes is by simply buying just a few rather than an entire box. Instead of buying a box of beautiful Padron Number 88s, spend just $38 on a 5 pack sampler. Every maduro wrapped smoke in this sampler promises a quality smoking experience and one of them was given a 90 plus rating.

Buy a box of high-rated premium smokes if you can but if the cost is too much for your budget, you can still enjoy the good life in the form of five packs from Thompson Cigars.

Wonderful Smokes

DrMoose from Cheyenne, WY reviewed the PADRON LONDRES WITH ASHTRAY MADURO CORONA

This was perhaps the most perfect cigar I have ever smoked. Not one cigar in the entire box was anything less than perfect. And for all of that, the price was still reasonable. This was a smooth, mild cigar that drew consistently well, burned evenly, and lasted as long as most Churchills. I can find absolutely nothing bad to say about these cigars.

Three Cigar Essentials for the Humidor

Wednesday, November 2, 2011 by Pat The Cigar Guy
OLIVA SERIE V BELICOSO SUN GROWNWhen it comes to cigars, it's hard to think of anything more satisfying than a good, relaxed smoke. It clears the mind, prepares you for any number of mental tasks, and reminds you that life is meant to be enjoyed. If any other cigar-related endeavor compares to this, it would have to be the action of placing a newly acquired cigar into the humidor. Once it's there, you know that it will be fresh and ready for a good smoke on the right occasion.

All cigars are at home in a humidor but the following three are so good that they deserve to be referred to as "essential":
  • Oliva Serie 5 Bellicoso Sun Grown: Full bodied and smooth, this highly rated smoke is a prized possession.
  • Padron Family 5 Reserve No. 45: Cigars with long names tend to have high ratings and this one is no exception. Made with tobacco aged for ten years (!), these smokes are limited in number and truly one of a kind. Cigar Aficionado's 2009 "cigar of the year" has a rating of 95.
  • Brick House Robusto Natural: Finely aged Nicaraguan tobacco and Havana wrapper leaves give this quality cigar plenty of flavor and resurrect the original Cuban puro Brick House Cigars.
The quickest way to acquire these three quality smokes is by ordering from an online cigar store. They will be delivered right to your door and you can transfer them to your humidor for safe keeping.

Have You Tried Padron Cigars?

There is a car model for every taste and just about every budget. That said, we all know that some companies stand out in terms of reliability, function, and design. When driving a vehicle engineered by one of the top automobile brands, the difference in quality is immediately apparent and the reason why such cars are the choice of just about anyone who can afford them.

PADRON SERIE 1926 SAMPLER MADUROThe same can be said about cigars. A good smoke is nice but an exceptional smoke is priceless and one of the top brands is Padron. This Cuban-American run company grows and manufactures its fine cigars in Nicaragua. At Padron, careful and close attention is paid to every step of the process to produce some of the finest cigars in the world. Indeed, the coffee and chocolate laced aromas and tastes of Padron cigars have earned several prestigious awards. They come in both natural and maduro wrappers and several types are available.

If you have never tried Padron cigars, samplers offer one of the easiest ways to experience these excellent smokes. The Padron 1926 cigar sampler series has five, maduro-wrapped, high quality cigars. The carefully blended tobacco used for each smoke has been aged for five years to produce Padron's characteristic smooth, complex flavors. Smoke one of these and you will understand why Padron is at the top for Nicaraguan cigars.

The Story Behind Padron Cigars is Just as Inspirational as the Smoke

Friday, October 21, 2011 by Pat The Cigar Guy
In running a business, factors such as hard work, determination, and vision are equally important. If you excel at just one of these attributes, your business has a good chance of being successful. Combine all three of these factors, though, and your business, product, or service is bound to be exceptional. This is clearly demonstrated by the Padron company story.

PADRON NO. 88 SAMPLER NATURALIn 1962, Jose Orlando Padron arrived in Miami, Florida to start a new life. Like many Cuban refugees, he came with nothing more than a dream and the willingness to work hard. His vision was a cigar factory that would make high quality cigars that rivaled those of Cuba. First, however, he needed to save up money to start his business. Jose had difficulties in finding a job but he never gave up on his dream. A friend at the Cuban refugee office gave him a hammer as a gift after Jose mentioned that he had carpentry skills. He actually used that very hammer to work as a carpenter and save up the money to build his first cigar factory.

For this reason, a picture of that hammer is a signature aspect of the Padron brand. It's a sign of the humble yet determined beginnings of a company that now produces the best smokes manufactured in Nicaragua. Feature a Padron cigar in your cigar of the month club and experience the unique flavors of Jose's realized vision.

The Art of Smoking a Cigar

Sunday, October 16, 2011 by Pat The Cigar Guy
ACID ONE CAMEROON TORPEDO INFUSEDThere is a certain amount of protocol to follow when smoking a cigar. It's not the type of product that requires the simple opening of a package for ready and routine use. No, cigars are far too refined for such generic treatment. Everyone has their own way of enjoying them, but try this protocol for a truly satisfying smoke:
  1. Decide on a cigar and pick a place to smoke it: First and foremost, you need to pick out your choice of smoke. If looking for a soulful, relaxing experience, try one of those limited edition cigars crafted by Padron or ACID that have been carefully hand-wrapped with choice tobacco leaves. Then, head to a place where you can enjoy a quality smoke without interruptions.
  2. Prepare the cigar with a cutter: Get your cigar ready for smoking by properly cutting it. This shouldn't be done with scissors or a knife. While those instruments will work in a pinch, they aren't going to give the clean, straight cut provided by a device specifically designed for cutting cigars. A cigar cutter neatly cuts your smoke with a straight line to enable a proper and thorough draw.
  3. Light the cigar: Once again, you could light your cigar with any sort of flame but why risk lessening the experience when there are devices engineered for this important purpose? Use the steady flame of a cigar lighter to properly light your smoke.
  4. Enjoy the smoke: Most of all, sit back and enjoy your cigar to the fullest.
To enhance your cigar smoking experience, get cigars and accessories from online cigar stores.

Put Some Variety into Your Life with Cigar Samplers

Tuesday, October 4, 2011 by Pat The Cigar Guy
ULTIMATE 90 PLUS SAMPLERMost cigar aficionados have a personal favorite when it comes to a quality smoke. It might be the brand that opened their eyes to hand-rolled, fermented and aged tobacco, a type of cigar they smoked on another special occasion, or a quality, low-priced cigar. Whatever the reason, we all have our standby cigars.

That’s all fine and good but you will miss out on amazing experiences by just sticking to your personal status-quo. This goes for just about anything in life but is especially true for cigars. The taste of cigar tobacco varies by age and is influenced by leaves that are used. In addition, the wide range of companies that produce cigars ensure an equally wide range of cigar smoking experiences.

It’s understandable why you might be reluctant to buy a box of unfamiliar cigars when you already have a tried and tested favorite. Nevertheless, you could be missing out on a whole new world of flavors by not trying different cigar brands. An excellent solution to this dilemma is provided by cigar samplers. These carefully chosen assortments of high quality smokes make it easy to broaden your cigar smoking experience and give you the chance to enjoy some truly rare, excellent cigars.

For example, the Ultimate 90 Plus sampler gives you 16 different smokes that have received a 90 or better rating from “Cigar Aficionado” while the Padron Sampler offers three cigars that each earned the title of “cigar of the year”.

We all have our favorite cigar, but cigar samplers give new meaning to the phrase “variety is the spice of life”.

Paying homage to Orlando Padrón, the patriarch of this famous Cuban family, the cigars of the Padrón 1926 line ank among the most limited this great manufacturer produces. Every ounce of tobacco comprising these cigars was grown exclusively on Padrón farms. Celebrating the birth date of Orlando Padrón, Sr., these cigars reflect his unwavering mission to produce the finest cigars available, bar none, and that includes all the vaunted cigars of his native Cuba where he learned his craft.

In every sense of the word, these cigars are collectibles. Indeed, knowing of the Padrón reputation, many customers buy them and carefully house them in their humidors where they patiently await the inevitable price appreciation. We must plead guilty to a bit of this as well. Awaiting a supply sufficient to offer, we have been accumulating these Padrón 1926’s for over two years.

Padrón 88 Sampler. Treat someone else or treat yourself! Padrón is renowned for making the most consistent cigars in the business; never a bad draw, never a bad burn, always highly rated, rarely (if ever) discounted and frequently hard to get. Many educated smokers believe that Padrón is "as good as it gets" in Nicaraguan tobacco, so it should come as no surprise that supplies of our Padrón 88 Sampler are rather limited. You'll get four original blend smokes from Padrón – Padrón 2000, Padrón 3000, Padrón 4000, and Padrón 5000 – and one Padrón 1964 Anniversary Series Exclusivo, the too-damn-good-for-words, 90+ rated cigar that limited availability sends true aficionados into fits!
