My Baccarat Rothschild Cigar Experience

Friday, June 18, 2010 by Patrick K
When I tried my first Baccarat,  I was pleasantly surprised at the whole, natural smoking experience. This Rothschild had a nice even burn and a good draw. I liked the sweet mild flavor and the woodsy taste. In fact, if it weren't for Drew Estate and Acid Cigars this would be my favorite dessert cigar for those evenings when I feel like something sugary.  While the Baccarat isn't a full bodied cigar, its a flawless, smooth smoke that rests easy on the palate.  And I love that they're hand-rolled in Honduras and made of prime, well-aged, long filler Cuban-seed leaf.  I really enjoyed my first Baccarat!  I'll be buying more of these cigars, especially for the price from Thompson Cigar!

My Fuente of the Week - Curly Head

Fuente Lovers, Your Ship Has Come In!

From our point of view, there is no such thing as a bad Fuente. When comparing the relative smoking pleasures of a line of cigars that is so uniformly excellent, we are hard pressed to declare a best. The justly deserved Fuente penchant for excellence is legendary. Perhaps this is one of the reasons Fuente cigars are some of the most in-demand, most difficult to find smokes in the marketplace.

With this said, my 'Fuente of the week' is definetly the Curly Head. For starters, from growing to aging to rolling these cigars, it's an incessant round of inspections of the total process that goes on 7 days a week, year round. Every waking hour is spent on the farm with the plant or on the factory floor with the cigar rollers. Obviously it's a system that works, otherwise why would Fuente be the most sought after brand in the world, including the Cuban brands.

Very honestly, if you want to blow someone out of the water with a great smoke, this is it. I've read a couple of my previous posts and I say this a lot but I promise you I only blog about my favorites; smokes I would only feed to my overbearing, ridiculously critical father-in-law! (Who I hope doesn't blog!)

Ashton Classic Churchill Connecticut

I could write you out an intricate list of cigars that are ALWAYS in my humidor for one reason or another. Although, nothing quite compares to the 90 Rated, 7.5 inch Ashton Classic Churchill Connecticut that has it's own special spot in my humi. I'm positive I'm not the only one who feels as strongly about this smoke; Thompson Cigar customer "Lightup1," from Hickory, NC, said "This was a good smoke. 45 minutes of pleasure. I enjoyed the flavor and burn time on this cigar." Ashton Cigars are carefully crafted in the Dominican Republic by the exceptionally skilled cigar makers at Tabacalera A. Fuente, in Santiago. Ashton's rich, complex, and exquisitely satisfying flavor can only be achieved by blending expertly cured 3-5 year old tobaccos under the strictest supervision of both Carlos Fuente, Sr., and his son, Carlos Fuente, Jr. Ashton is, quite simply, one of the finest smokes made in the world today.

Along with the Ashton Classic Churchill Connecticut, Thompson Cigar offers many other Ashton Classic cigar options that are sure to impress your taste buds!
