Describe Yourself: Cigar Aficionado
One of the old, old Cuban brands before 1950, Gispert was always among the top five most highly rated Cuban brands. Though never widely distributed outside the island nation, still it enjoyed a significant market share among the pantheon of the best of the country’s great smokes. In the chaos of the embargo, however, and in the hands of new owners, Gispert languished, almost to the point of being discontinued altogether.
At long last, and quite overdue for those who remember the brand’s heyday, Altadis has decided to resurrect Gispert to its former glory. Employing the great Cuban-seed tobaccos grown in Honduras and Nicaragua with Ecuadoran Connecticut wrapper, Gispert in its new resurrection today, is a cut above its original blend. For the few surviving old timers who remember fondly the original pre-Castro Gispert, the new incarnation promises to bring back the nostalgia of by-gone days. Why even the retro presentation of the box hearkens back to the olden times. As one considers the return of Gispert to former glory, it’s enough to make one positively misty-eyed.
