Fuente Lovers, Your Ship Has Come In

From our point of view, there is no such thing as a bad Fuente. When comparing the relative smoking pleasures of a line of cigars that is so uniformly excellent, we are hard pressed to declare a best. The justly deserved Fuente penchant for excellence is legendary. Perhaps this is one of the reasons Fuente cigars are some of the most in-demand, most difficult to find smokes in the marketplace.

Almost as hard to find as the renowned Opus X, Fuente Royal Salute is a cigar that delivers solid performance in such large measure, so much so that many of our Fuente smokers prefer it above all other Fuente products. At 7 5/8-inches and 54-ring gauge, Royal Salute is a brute of a cigar, meant only to be enjoyed slowly. In addition to its gustatory delights, certainly a part of the pleasure of this – of any Fuente cigar, is visual. The sun grown Natural wrapper is as gorgeous to behold, as it is to savor.

The Perfect Fuente for Me!

bamauroll from Alabama reviewed the ARTURO FUENTE HEMINGWAY BEST SELLER CAMEROON PERFECTO

This is absolutely one of the best Cigars on the market today. The only "Con" is that it doesn't last quite long enough. It's easy to light, smooth, sweet and very aromatic. I have smoked a "Bazillion" cigars and it just doesn't get any better, including the OpusX! I love to light one up after a Crimson Tide Victory!!!

The Arturo Fuente Hemingway Best Seller has become one of the most coveted sizes in the Hemingway Series, the line dedicated to “The Old Man and the Sea” himself, Ernest Hemingway. The Best Seller, a 4 1/2 X 52 interpretation of the Perfecto shape, is a mild-medium bodied Dominican cigar with a golden Cameroon wrapper. Don’t miss your chance to enjoy this unequaled smoking experience! Supplies are extremely limited.

The Fuente for the Common Man

Friday, February 18, 2011 by Customer Reviews

Marder from Cabot, AR reviewed the ARTURO FUENTE BREVAS ROYALE NATURAL CORONA

The Brevas Royale may be made from clippings from other Fuente cigars, but you'd never know it. This is a consistently smooth, mild cigar that is a pleasure to smoke. It has the added advantage of being priced within the reach of cigar lovers of modest means. The Brevas Royale delivers as much flavor as cigars costing a lot more. If you can't relax smoking one of these, you just can't relax!

Buying for the Bands

Tuesday, December 14, 2010 by Trevor Billingsley
Call me superficial, but there have been times (particularly when I first started to smoke cigars) when I made my choice of quality cigars based on ... whether or not I liked the cigar band.

Don't mock me!

There's a reason that cigar companies spend time and money to design a logo that will fit their cigar's image and catch the eye. Any little edge that will make a cigar smoker nod, stare or smile could lead to increased sales, and with many premium cigar it takes just that initial smoke to form a lifelong friendship.

That's how I found the Gurkha cigars, for example. I was at a cigar bar looking at the selection, and I saw one of these Gurkha Maduros. I was intrigued enough to give it a shot, and Gurkha remains one of my favorites to this day. I also love the Arturo Fuente Opus X bands, and the Baccarat cigars as well.

How about you? What are the cigar bands that catch your eye?

Find me a cigar to smoke with Sherry

Sunday, December 5, 2010 by Trevor Billingsley
To be perfectly honest, I don't drink a lot of Sherry. I have a lot of other after-dinner drinks that I like better, and if I'm really in the mood for something sweet I'll usually have a Port. But I married into a family that has a branch that enjoys Sherry after a hearty meal, so when we visit my aunt and uncle I've had experience sipping one, smiling, and wishing it was a bourbon or a single-malt Scotch because I am an ingrate.

Fortunately all the men are cigar smokers, which is great for me. However, one problem I have with drinking Sherry is that I find it harder to get it paired with a quality cigar that I like.

I prefer a full-flavored cigar with Sherry, like the Arturo Fuente Opus X. That works for me because I like the Opus X with pretty much anything. But the issue is that I rarely remember to bring one when I travel, since they cost enough (even when I buy cigars online) that I don't tend to carry them in my cigar cases.

So this is where I turn to Thompson Cigar for advice. Do any of you drink Sherry and smoke cigars? If so, what do you recommend?

The Office Humidor

Sunday, September 19, 2010 by Trevor Billingsley
Though rules against smoking indoors have increased, many cigar smokers still find it valuable to have a humidor in the office. It's a great place for storing those top-flight cigars, and will pay for itself thousands of times over if its accessibility and its contents help seal a key business deal.

Art Deco HumidorWe can't smoke in our office space (most of us, anyway), but there's enough room outdoors and the scenery is pleasant enough that I keep one there anyway. The one I use is the Art Deco 60 Count Humidor. It's big enough to hold enough cigars that I'm always sure to have enough on hand, small enough that it fits unobtrusively on the shelf, and stylish enough that it impresses smokers and non-smokers alike.

I have a few clients who are cigar smokers, and though I have no idea whether that has ever been the main factor in maintaining our business arrangements, I know for sure that it doesn't hurt when I break out the Arturo Fuente Opus X at the end of a meeting. Maybe it's possible to smoke one of those with someone and not consider them a friend and colleague, but it's worked very well for me so far and I bet it works for you as well.
